Connecting With Disabilities Through Sensory Integration

Are you looking to understand how poor sensory regulation is often one of the underlying causes of behaviour in people with disabilities? Do you want to learn how to pick up on these early sensory signs so as to have a calmer family, or classroom life?

Traditional treatments often neglect the underlying causes of disruptive behaviours, and may only serve to reinforce negative feelings.  Missing the early sensory warning signs can often lead to a client not getting the right treatment strategies in place early enough.

Up to 15% of the pediatric population have problems with sensory regulation, and this number skyrockets to as much as 70% in children with disabilities.
People with disabilities are often unaware of their own sensory state, and do not know how to use strategies to help them feel regulated. Caregivers and teachers who do not understand the effect poor self-regulation can have, often end up feeling burned out.
