Cynthia has more than 20 years of clinical experience working as an Occupational Therapist and Speaker. She has worked with, and advocated for children and adults with intellectual disabilities including autism, fetal alcohol syndrome disorder (FASD), ADHD, mental health conditions and dementia.
Cynthia has a strong background in fine/gross motor development and activities of daily living, and is a leader in the field of sensory integration. She has a particular passion for providing education and hands-on strategies to assist with problem behaviours by looking at the client holistically. Through her trainings, she strives to make sensory processing difficulties and behaviour problems understandable to everyone and provides adaptations to minimize these challenges. Cynthia uses storytelling as a key way to connect with her audiences and to bring complex learnings in a relatable way.
Cynthia’s practice now focuses on providing consultation and training to groups, schools and organizations working with individuals with special needs. She also offers trainings to parent groups and home and school associations.
She continues to be a leader in sensory integration and guest lectures at McGill University to ensure that Masters level Occupational Therapy students have a strong understanding of how sensory difficulties affect their clients.
Over the last 6 years she has developed a passion to working with indigenous populations and works with the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay, Quebec where she travels to all 9 communities to provide trainings, consultations and mentoring to local indigenous staff and the rehabilitation staff working on the territory.
